Garth Brooks, the renowned country singer, had an interesting encounter with a former MLB player, Craig Counsell, who is now the manager of the Chicago Cubs. Counsell, who had an impressive career as a professional baseball player spanning from 1995 to 2007, was influenced by Brooks to alter his batting stance.
Counsell gained fame for his unique and unusual batting stance, in which he held his bat high up in the air. The reason behind this stance remained a mystery, as he never provided any explanation for it.
After being appointed as the manager of the Chicago Cubs, Counsell participated in the 2024 Cubs Convention, during which an individual finally questioned him about the reason behind his practice of holding the bat in an elevated position.
He attributes the responsibility to Garth Brooks.
Counsell clarifies that during his time at spring training with the Los Angeles Dodgers, he struggled with his batting skills and was unable to achieve any successful hits.
