During the most recent episode of Taste of Country Nights, available On Demand, Smith shares a personal account about his experience at a Thomas Rhett concert in 2016 that greatly influenced him.

At the age of 16, I had the opportunity to go on a date with a girl to a concert by Thomas Rhett. The show took place at Ascend Amphitheater, and we were seated on the lawn area. During the concert, Thomas Rhett performed his song "Die a Happy Man," and I attempted to slow dance with the girl I was with, aiming to create a romantic atmosphere.

Smith mentions that the following day, his girlfriend ended their relationship.

After we had a good laugh, he proceeds to tell the rest of the story. He mentions that about four years later, he was on tour with Rhett and it made him feel like he had the final victory in that situation.

Smith has shared this story with the audience on several occasions, and it has become a popular choice among listeners.
