Morgan Wallen expresses his dissatisfaction with releasing his new song "Spin You Around" and has unexpectedly released a new version of it. It seems that Wallen had no intention of re-recording or re-releasing the song.
On Friday, the singer released a heartfelt acoustic love song, which he shared with his fans. He also took the opportunity to talk about a decision he made 10 years ago that ultimately influenced his
Besides criticizing the timing of the release, Wallen also belittled the music.
Morgan Wallen has compiled a list of the 40 most frequently played songs from the past 50 years.
According to the author, a few of the songs were decent, but the majority of them were awful because he was still in the process of learning how to write. He also mentions that he was not the sole contributor, so many of the songs did not align with his own ideas or meet his standards.
Morgan Wallen's EP titled Stand Alone has garnered almost 400 million streams on Spotify. One of the most popular tracks from the EP, "Spin You Alone," has been streamed 240 million times. The EP also features songs like "Sleep When We're Dead" and "Yin Yang Girl." While the project has a country-rock sound, it still incorporates Wallen's signature hip-hop influence.
Paul Trust and Sergio Sanchez, who is the lead singer of the rock band Atom Smash, have collaborated with Wallen as co-writers on all 13 songs. Although these songs may not possess the same level of intensity as Wallen's later recordings, fans will still be able to identify the familiar rhythm in new tracks such as "Going Down" and appreciate the relaxed melody in songs like "Scared to Live Without You."
In 2014, Wallen participated in Season 6 of The Voice. Therefore, the songwriting session that resulted in these songs probably took place shortly after, around 18-24 months before he officially joined Big Loud Records. He acknowledges that he recorded for Panacea and also signed a contract for artist management.
Regrettably, I entered into both agreements without the assistance of a lawyer, as Wallen clarifies.
"2 of Us Alone" is an illustration of a song that one might feel remorseful about. The song is accompanied by a lackluster arrangement, and the vocalist's identity is hardly identifiable in the year 2024.
Wallen is joined by piano and acoustic guitar on the track "Afterglow," which appears to be aimed at fans of soft rock from the early 2000s. In other songs like "Man of the South" and "Bonfire Jam," Wallen seems to be targeting a commercial rock audience. If producer Trust were to release this set of songs, it is unlikely that he would receive new opportunities in Nashville.
Morgan Wallen wants to clarify to his fans that the recently released album is not his upcoming project. However, he assures them that he will be heading back to the studio in February to work on his next recording.
"He feels uncomfortable and embarrassed when he listens to these songs," he comments.
Joey Moi took charge of the production for this fresh acoustic rendition of "Spin You Around," and Wallen reveals that he recorded it in Nashville during the current week (he also created the cover artwork for the song).
In the spirit of giving back, he has chosen to contribute $100,000 from the Morgan Wallen Foundation to support the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts program. This donation aims to assist aspiring musicians who might encounter similar challenges.
