14 Legendary Country Stars Who Deserve More Respect: The Overlooked Icons of Country Music

  • by

There are 14 country music stars who are not getting the recognition they deserve. Dwight Yoakam was considered to be the most disrespected singer in country music, but we recently discovered another legendary country act whose achievements have been overlooked.

Yoakam's batting average at the CMA, ACM, and Grammy Awards is only .081, meaning he has only won 3 out of 37 times. In comparison, the Bellamy Brothers have not been as fortunate in securing wins.

This pair has an astonishing record of 0-29 at the three main music award shows. No other country duo has received as many nominations in this category, yet they have never managed to win. David and Howard Bellamy have been so consistently overlooked that they were not even included in a list of deserving artists who are not in the Country Music Hall of Fame by the Taste of Country team.

It appeared to be obvious that they would have arrived by now.

It is possible that you might feel just as upset as we did about this type of disrespect. We suggest using a stress ball, a CBD gummy (if it is legally allowed), or any other method you use to stay calm while scrolling through. Below, there is a list of 14 artists, but please note that this list only includes legacy acts that we believe deserve more respect.

We will discuss overlooked modern country singers on another occasion.

Included in this list are two highly regarded female solo artists, as well as three well-known groups. Billy Ray Cyrus is also included, which we understand may spark some disagreement. Nevertheless, the facts speak for themselves – it is necessary to acknowledge him and his 13 associates with greater esteem.
