Morgan Wallen Opens Up About Record Release Controversy and Drops New Version of ‘Spin You Around

  • by

Morgan Wallen expresses his dissatisfaction with the release of his new record and unexpectedly drops a new rendition of his song "Spin You Around." It seems that Wallen had no intention of re-recording or re-releasing the track and may not have been enthusiastic about it either.

On Friday, the artist delighted his fans by sharing a heartfelt acoustic love song. In his explanation, he revealed that a choice he made a decade ago ultimately influenced his decision to release the song.

Besides criticizing the timing of the release, Wallen also spoke negatively about the music.

Morgan Wallen compiles a compilation of the 40 songs that have been played the most over the course of the past half-century.

According to the writer, a few songs were decent, but the majority of them were awful because they were still in the process of learning how to write and understand it. Additionally, the writer clarifies that they were not the sole contributor to the songs, so many of them did not meet their personal standards and were not their original concepts.

Morgan Wallen's Stand Alone EP has received almost 400 million streams on Spotify, with the previous version of "Spin You Alone" alone accumulating 240 million streams. The EP also features other tracks like "Sleep When We're Dead" and "Yin Yang Girl." While the project maintains a country-rock sound, it also incorporates the hip-hop influence that Wallen has become recognized for.

Paul Trust and Sergio Sanchez, who is the lead singer of the rock band Atom Smash, collaborated with Wallen to write all 13 songs on this album. Although the songs may not possess the same level of intensity as Wallen's later recordings, his fans will still be able to identify the familiar rhythm in new tracks like "Going Down," as well as the soothing melody in songs like "Scared to Live Without You."

During the year 2014, Wallen participated in Season 6 of The Voice. Therefore, it can be assumed that the songwriting session for these songs took place shortly after that, approximately 18-24 months before he officially joined Big Loud Records. Wallen does not refute the fact that he recorded for Panacea and entered into an artist management agreement.

Regrettably, Wallen states that he agreed to both contracts without the assistance of a lawyer.

"2 of Us Alone" is a song that can be considered regrettable. It features a weak arrangement and the vocalist's style has drastically changed by 2024, making them hardly recognizable.

Wallen is accompanied by piano and acoustic guitar on the track "Afterglow," which appears to be aimed at fans of soft rock from the early 2000s. On the other hand, the songs "Man of the South" and "Bonfire Jam" seem to target a more mainstream rock audience. If producer Trust were to release this collection of songs as a lead, it is unlikely that he would receive new opportunities in Nashville.

Morgan Wallen wants to clarify that his newly-released album is not his next big project. However, he assures fans that he will be heading back to the studio in February to work on his next record.

He expresses discomfort and embarrassment when he listens to these songs.

Joey Moi was in charge of producing this latest acoustic version of "Spin You Around," which was given the green light. Wallen mentioned that he recorded it in Nashville this week, and he also took the responsibility of designing the cover art for the song.

In order to give back, he has chosen to contribute $100,000 from the Morgan Wallen Foundation to support the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts program. This initiative aims to assist young musicians who may face similar challenges.
