Morgan Wallen expresses his disapproval towards releasing his new song "Spin You Around" again, indicating that he had no intention of re-recording it either.
On Friday, the singer released a heartfelt acoustic love song to his fans. He also took the opportunity to discuss how a choice he made a decade ago ultimately influenced his decision to release the song.
Along with criticizing the timing of the release, Wallen also criticized the music.
Morgan Wallen has compiled a list of the 40 songs that have been played the most over the past 50 years.
According to the author, while he was still in the process of learning how to write, some of the songs he worked on were decent, but the majority of them were terrible. He explains that since he had other collaborators, many of the songs were not his own concepts and did not meet his personal standards.
Morgan Wallen's EP titled "Stand Alone" has received a total of almost 400 million streams on Spotify. One of the tracks on the EP, specifically the original version of "Spin You Alone," has accumulated 240 million streams alone. The EP also features other songs such as "Sleep When We're Dead" and "Yin Yang Girl." While the project predominantly carries a country-rock sound, it still showcases the hip-hop influence that Wallen has become recognized for.
Paul Trust and Sergio Sanchez, who is the lead singer of the rock band Atom Smash, collaborated with Wallen as co-writers on all 13 songs. Although the songs may not be as impactful as the ones he would later record, fans will still be able to recognize the familiar rhythm in new tracks like "Going Down" and the relaxed melody in songs like "Scared to Live Without You."
In the year 2014, Wallen participated in the sixth season of the television show The Voice. Therefore, it is likely that the songwriting session for these songs took place shortly after that, around 18-24 months before he officially signed with Big Loud Records. Wallen does not refuse the fact that he recorded for Panacea and entered into an artist management agreement.
Regrettably, Wallen confesses that he agreed to both agreements without the assistance or guidance of a lawyer.
"2 of Us Alone" is an instance of a song that one might regret. The music arrangement lacks energy and the singer's identity has significantly changed by 2024.
Wallen is joined by piano and acoustic guitar on the track "Afterglow," which appears to be aimed at fans of soft rock from the early 2000s. On the other hand, "Man of the South" and "Bonfire Jam" are geared towards a more mainstream rock audience. It's unlikely that Trust, the producer, would find success in Nashville if he were to focus on promoting this set of songs.
Take a moment to check out Morgan Wallen's song called "Spin You Around". It's important for fans to understand that this recently released album is not his upcoming project. However, Wallen assures his fans that he will be returning to the studio in February to record new music.
He expresses discomfort or embarrassment when he listens to these songs.
Joey Moi was in charge of producing this fresh and authorized acoustic rendition of "Spin You Around," and Wallen shares that he recorded it in Nashville this week. Additionally, he also created the cover art for the song.
In order to give back, he has chosen to contribute $100,000 from the Morgan Wallen Foundation to the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts program. This donation aims to support aspiring musicians who may encounter similar challenges.
