Morgan Wallen Slams Record Release and Releases New Version of ‘Spin You Around

  • by

Morgan Wallen expresses his dissatisfaction with the record release and unexpectedly releases a new version of his song "Spin You Around." It appears that Wallen had no intentions of re-recording or re-releasing the track, and it seems that he wasn't enthusiastic about doing so either.

On Friday, the artist delighted his fans by sharing a heartfelt acoustic ballad. In his explanation, he revealed that his hand was forced due to a decision he made a decade ago.

Aside from criticizing the timing of the release, Wallen also criticized the music.

Morgan Wallen has compiled a list of the 40 songs that have been played the most over the past 50 years.

According to the author, a few of the songs they wrote were decent, but the majority were extremely bad because they were still in the process of grasping the basics of writing. They also clarify that they were not the sole contributor to these songs, so many of them did not align with their personal creative vision or meet their standards.

Morgan Wallen's EP, Stand Alone, has received almost 400 million streams on Spotify. One of the tracks, "Spin You Alone," has been streamed 240 million times. The EP also features songs like "Sleep When We're Dead" and "Yin Yang Girl." While the project has a country-rock sound, it still incorporates the hip-hop influence that Wallen has become recognized for.

Paul Trust and Sergio Sanchez, who is the lead singer of the rock band Atom Smash, collaborated with Wallen as co-writers for all 13 songs. Although the music may not be as impactful as his later recordings, fans will still be able to identify the familiar rhythm in new tracks such as "Going Down" and the soothing melody in songs like "Scared to Live Without You."

Wallen participated in Season 6 of The Voice in 2014, which suggests that the songwriting session for these songs took place shortly after. This would have been around 18-24 months before he eventually signed with Big Loud Records. Wallen does not refute the fact that he recorded for Panacea and entered into an artist management agreement.

Regrettably, I entered into both agreements without the guidance or assistance of a legal representative, as Wallen clarifies.

"2 of Us Alone" serves as a prime example of a regrettable song. The lackluster instrumentation complements a singer who is hardly recognizable in the year 2024.

Wallen is accompanied by piano and acoustic guitar on the track "Afterglow," which appears to be aimed at the soft rock audience of the early 2000s. On the other hand, "Man of the South" and "Bonfire Jam" cater to a commercial rock crowd. If producer Trust were to release these songs, it is unlikely that he would receive new opportunities in Nashville.

Morgan Wallen wants his fans to understand that the album recently released is not his upcoming project. However, he assures his fans that he will be back in the studio to record new music in February.

He expresses discomfort and embarrassment when he hears these songs.

Joey Moi was in charge of producing this fresh acoustic rendition of "Spin You Around," and Wallen confirms that he recorded it in Nashville earlier this week. Additionally, Wallen took the initiative to design the cover art for the song.

In order to give back, he has made the choice to contribute $100,000 from the Morgan Wallen Foundation to the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts program. This donation aims to support aspiring musicians who might encounter similar challenges along their journey.
