Morgan Wallen expresses his dissatisfaction with the release of his record and surprises fans by dropping a new version of his song "Spin You Around." It appears that Wallen had no intention of re-recording or re-releasing the track.
The vocalist released the heartfelt love song in its acoustic version to his followers on Friday, clarifying that a choice he made a decade ago ultimately compelled him to do so.
Besides criticizing the timing of this release, Wallen also criticized the music.
Morgan Wallen has compiled a list of the 40 songs that have been played the most over the past 50 years.
According to him, a few of the songs were decent, but the majority of them were awful since he was still in the process of learning how to write and grasping the concept. He clarifies that he wasn't the sole contributor, so many of these songs were not his own concepts and didn't meet his standards.
Morgan Wallen's Stand Alone EP has garnered almost 400 million streams on Spotify, with one of the tracks, "Spin You Alone," reaching 240 million streams. The EP also features songs like "Sleep When We're Dead" and "Yin Yang Girl." While the project has a country-rock sound, it still incorporates the hip-hop influence that Wallen has become recognized for.
Paul Trust and Sergio Sanchez, who is the lead singer of the rock band Atom Smash, collaborated with Wallen as co-writers for all 13 songs. Although these songs may not possess the same level of intensity as his later recordings, fans will still be able to identify the familiar rhythm in new tracks such as "Going Down" and appreciate the relaxed and flowing melody in songs like "Scared to Live Without You."
During his participation in Season 6 of The Voice in 2014, Wallen had a songwriting session that likely took place shortly after the show. This happened around 18-24 months before he eventually signed with Big Loud Records. Wallen does not reject the fact that he recorded for Panacea and also signed a deal for artist management.
Regrettably, Wallen clarifies that he agreed to both contracts without the assistance of a lawyer.
"2 of Us Alone" is a song that can be considered regrettable. It features a weak arrangement and the vocalist's style has drastically changed in 2024, making them hardly recognizable.
Wallen is accompanied by piano and acoustic guitar in the song "Afterglow," which appears to be aimed at fans of soft rock from the early 2000s. In other tracks like "Man of the South" and "Bonfire Jam," Wallen seems to be targeting a commercial rock audience. If producer Trust were to release these songs as his lead, it is unlikely that he would receive new opportunities in the Nashville music scene.
Morgan Wallen is urging his fans to give a listen to his song "Spin You Around". He wants to clarify that the recently released album is not his upcoming project. However, he assures his fans that he will be heading back to the studio in February to record new music.
"He feels embarrassed and uncomfortable when he listens to these songs," he expresses.
Joey Moi, the producer, took charge of creating this fresh acoustic rendition of "Spin You Around," which was given the green light. Wallen shares that he recorded it in Nashville earlier this week, and he also created the cover art for the song.
As a gesture of kindness, he has made a decision to contribute $100,000 from the Morgan Wallen Foundation to support the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts program. This initiative aims to assist aspiring musicians who may encounter similar challenges in their careers.
