Fans of both traditional and modern country music have something to look forward to. On Friday (Jan. 26), a new version of Glen Campbell's song "Hold on Hope" featuring a duet with Eric Church was released.

The unexpected release is a part of the updated and reimagined edition of Campbell's album "Ghost on the Canvas" from 2011. It is set to be released on April 19 through Surfdog Records and Big Machine Label Group.

The sincere song was written by Robert Pollard, and it features Church and Campbell taking turns to sing each of the four verses. The lyrics of the song honestly depict the thoughts and reflections of a tired individual about life, feelings of isolation, and the optimism for a brighter future.

Each road is dimly lit and unfolding in a mysterious manner, presenting us with the opportunity we risk in order to constantly strive and work towards our goals. We are reaching out for a helping hand that remains unseen by us. Campbell and Church, accompanied by the gentle strumming of an acoustic guitar, express that everyone possesses a glimmer of hope, which happens to be the sole thing that is keeping them going.

The song begins by inviting us to the final dance, symbolizing the end of something. However, it also signifies the need to move on and let go, even though it comes with the consequence of deceiving others. The reference to an animal mother suggests someone who is open and giving without any expectations. Despite the challenges, everyone still holds onto hope, which is the only thing keeping the speaker going. This sentiment is emphasized further in the second verse as the drumbeats intensify.

Included in the album Glen Campbell Duets – Ghost on the Canvas Sessions are songs where Glen Campbell collaborated with various artists such as Dolly Parton, Sting, Daryl Hall, Carole King, and Eric Clapton. One of the songs featured on the album is the rendition of "Nothing But the Whole Wide World" performed by Clapton and Campbell.

Campbell, known for his popular songs like "Rhinestone Cowboy," "Gentle on My Mind," and "Southern Nights," passed away on August 8, 2017, at a care facility in Nashville. He had been battling Alzheimer's disease, which had been publicly known for a significant period of time.

At the moment, Church's song "Man Made a Bar," which features Morgan Wallen, is gaining popularity on the country charts. These two well-known artists have also decided to collaborate in bringing back the print editions of Field & Stream magazine.
