Morgan Wallen expresses his discontent with the release of his record and unexpectedly drops a new rendition of his song "Spin You Around". It appears that Wallen neither intended nor desired to re-record and re-release the track.
On Friday, the singer delighted his fans by sharing a heartfelt acoustic love song. He further revealed that his decision from a decade ago had compelled him to do so.
Besides criticizing the timing of this release, Wallen also criticized the music.
Morgan Wallen has compiled a list of the 40 songs that have been played the most over the past 50 years.
According to the author, their early attempts at writing were a mix of satisfactory and poor. They admit to being in the initial stages of learning and trying to grasp the art of writing. Additionally, they mention that they were not the sole contributor to these songs, which means that many of the ideas and standards set were not their own.
Morgan Wallen's Stand Alone EP consists of songs that have been streamed almost 400 million times on Spotify. One of the tracks, the previous version of "Spin You Alone," has reached 240 million streams. The EP also features songs like "Sleep When We're Dead" and "Yin Yang Girl." While the project has a country-rock sound, it still encompasses the hip-hop influence that Wallen has become recognized for.
Paul Trust and Sergio Sanchez, who is the lead singer of the rock band Atom Smash, collaborated with Wallen as co-writers for all 13 songs on this album. Although the songs may not possess the same level of intensity as Wallen's later recordings, his fans will still be able to identify the catchy rhythm of new tracks such as "Going Down" and the relaxed melody found in songs like "Scared to Live Without You."
During the year 2014, Wallen participated in Season 6 of The Voice. Therefore, it is likely that the songwriting session which resulted in these songs took place shortly after that, around 18-24 months before he officially signed with Big Loud Records. Wallen does not refute the fact that he recorded for Panacea and entered into an artist management agreement.
Regrettably, I entered into both agreements without any assistance or guidance from a legal representative," Wallen clarifies.
"2 of Us Alone" is a prime illustration of a song that one would deeply lament. It features a lackluster musical arrangement that fails to impress, and the vocals of the singer are hardly identifiable in the year 2024.
Wallen is joined by piano and acoustic guitar on the track "Afterglow," which appears to be aimed at fans of soft rock from the early 2000s. The songs "Man of the South" and "Bonfire Jam" seem to target a more mainstream rock audience. If the producer Trust were to release this collection of songs, it is unlikely that he would receive new work in Nashville.
Morgan Wallen wants to clarify to his fans that the recently released album is not his upcoming project. However, he assures them that he will be heading back to the recording studio in February.
He expresses feeling uncomfortable or embarrassed when he listens to these songs.
The new acoustic version of "Spin You Around" was produced by Joey Moi and received his approval. Wallen mentioned that he recorded it in Nashville earlier this week and he was also responsible for designing the cover art for the song.
In order to give back, he has chosen to contribute $100,000 from the Morgan Wallen Foundation to support the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts program. This donation aims to assist young musicians who may encounter comparable challenges in their careers.
