Morgan Wallen Expresses Disdain for Record Release and Unveils New Version of ‘Spin You Around

  • by

Morgan Wallen has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the release of his new song "Spin You Around" and has unexpectedly dropped a new version of it. It seems that Wallen had no intention of re-recording or re-releasing the song in the first place, and it appears that he was not enthusiastic about the idea at all.

On Friday, the musician revealed a heartfelt acoustic love song to his fans. He went on to explain that he was compelled to create this song due to a choice he made a decade ago.

Alongside criticizing the timing of the release, Wallen also expressed negative opinions about the music.

Associated: Morgan Wallen compiles a compilation of the 40 songs that have been played the most in the past 50 years.

According to the author, a few of the songs were decent, but the majority of them were awful because they were still in the process of learning how to write and understand the concept. The author clarifies that they were not the sole contributor to these songs, so many of them did not align with their own ideas or meet their personal standards.

Morgan Wallen's EP titled Stand Alone has gained a significant number of streams on Spotify, with almost 400 million listens. One particular song, "Spin You Alone," from the previous version of the EP, has reached 240 million streams. The EP also features tracks like "Sleep When We're Dead" and "Yin Yang Girl." While the project has a country-rock sound, it still incorporates the hip-hop influence that Wallen has become recognized for.

Paul Trust and Sergio Sanchez, who is the lead singer of the rock band Atom Smash, collaborated with Wallen as co-writers on all 13 of these songs. Although these songs may not be as impactful as the music he would produce in the following years, fans will still be able to identify the catchy rhythm in new tracks such as "Going Down" and the soothing melody in songs like "Scared to Live Without You."

Wallen participated in the sixth season of The Voice in 2014. Therefore, the writing session for these songs most likely took place shortly after that, around 18-24 months before he eventually signed with Big Loud Records. He acknowledges that he recorded for Panacea and also entered into an artist management agreement.

Regrettably, I entered into both agreements without the assistance or guidance of a lawyer," Wallen clarifies.

"2 of Us Alone" is an instance of a song that one might feel remorseful about. The song is accompanied by a weak and uninspiring musical arrangement, and the vocalist's talent has significantly declined by 2024.

Wallen is joined by piano and acoustic guitar on the track "Afterglow," which appears to be aimed at fans of soft rock from the early 2000s. In contrast, "Man of the South" and "Bonfire Jam" cater to a more mainstream rock audience. If producer Trust were to release these songs as his primary body of work, he may not find much success in Nashville.

Morgan Wallen wants to clarify to his fans that the recently released album is not his upcoming project. However, he reassures them that he will be heading back to the studio in February to record new music.

He expresses feelings of discomfort and embarrassment when he listens to these songs.

Under the guidance of Joey Moi, production was carried out for the new acoustic rendition of "Spin You Around," which received approval. Wallen mentions that he recorded it in Nashville earlier this week and adds that he was also responsible for designing the cover art for the song.

In an act of kindness, he has chosen to give away $100,000 from the Morgan Wallen Foundation to support the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts program. This donation aims to assist aspiring musicians who may face similar challenges in their careers.
