Wes Audio has released their latest product, the ngTubeEQ, which follows their established approach of using analog processing and digital control and recall. The ngTubeEQ combines a four-band passive EQ design with a corresponding DAW plug-in.
The device has the capability to function in three different modes: stereo, dual mono, or mid-side. It includes four EQ bands that use inductors and cover a frequency range from 22Hz to 28kHz. Each band has 12 frequency points for precise adjustments, and users can choose between Proportional Q or Constant Q modes for a wide range of sound-shaping options. The unit also offers two gain range options: Moderate (±5dB) or Extended (±15dB) modes. Additionally, each channel of the device has active low- and high-pass filters that can be set to specific frequencies or completely bypassed.
In addition to its EQ capabilities, the ngTubeEQ also has built-in saturation options. This is made possible by its dual output design, which includes a valve and a Carnhill transformer. Each channel of the unit has controls for variable THD and Iron Pad, allowing users to introduce subtle enhancements or more noticeable harmonic coloration. Like other ng family members, the unit comes with a plug-in that replicates all of its front panel controls. This allows for remote control from a DAW session and the ability to save and recall settings within the session.
Information about the pricing and availability of the Ng Tube EQ device states that it will be released and ready for shipping in March 2024. The cost of the device is set at $5999
