NUSofting Releases Eugene Filter VST Plugin for Free: Get Your Hands on This Unique Audio Effect

  • by

You can now purchase Future Audio Workshop's SubLab for only $10 for a limited period. In addition, NUSofting has recently released a free version of their Eugene Filter VST Plugin called Eugene Filter Free. This plugin, which is usually priced at €10, can now be downloaded for free on both Windows and Mac operating systems.

The creator of the plugin provides versions for Windows (64-bit) in both VST2 and VST3 formats, and for Mac in VST3 and AU formats.

Eugene Filter is a software tool that functions as an audio effect plug-in. It stands out from other filters due to its unique low-pass filter design, which is technically known as a cascaded integrator-comb ladder.

The filter possesses self-oscillation properties that are comparable to the voltage-controlled filters present in virtual analog synthesizers, although it encompasses a broader range of resonances.

The free version functions similarly to the Eugene Filter, but it does not include all of the features available in the paid version.

The YouTube channel of NUSofting contains a video that presents the Eugene Filter and its free version, illustrating the distinctions between the two releases.

According to the developer, the cascaded integrator-comb ladder filter by NUSofting has a distinctive quality. It is described as being light and resonant, resembling the sound of a human voice.

Producers have the ability to use a plugin to input their own choice of sound and also incorporate amplitude-controlled noise that is produced by the plugin. By adding a touch of chorus, which is also available within the plugin, it is possible to create fresh and unique sounds from any sound source.

In addition, the cascaded integrator-comb filter can be substituted (using a switch) with a traditional emulation of a 24dB/octave ladder analog low-pass filter, resulting in two different low-pass options.

The Eugene Filter Free version offers two resonant low-pass filters, a noise generator, a stereo chorus effect, the ability to work in stereo, and adjustable gain controls for input, output, wet signal, and dry signal.

NUSofting, an individual-run company, has ensured that the download process for Eugene Filter Free is convenient and straightforward. Once you choose the desired format, you can easily obtain the Zip file with just one click.

The paid version of the software includes special features that are not available in the free version. These features include an Envelope Follower, a Random Walk LFO with adjustable Rate and Depth, and a preset selector that allows you to select from a collection of four different presets

The Envelope Follower keeps a record of the input level, while the Random Walk LFO causes the filter frequency to change gradually from slow movements to rapid fluctuations.

The complete version of the software also offers a feature where the interface can be adjusted in size, although this feature is not mentioned in the list of features for the free

The complete edition offers a wider selection of formats, as the Mac version that requires payment is able to work with AU, VST2, and VST3.

The plugins are available for both Mac and Windows operating systems in 64-bit. Both VST2 and VST3 versions are available for Windows.

At first, I didn't bother downloading this plugin from Nusofting because I already have enough filters. However, I was pleasantly surprised by its sound quality. The interface might not be visually appealing, but I think it's still worth downloading.

Hey everyone, you should definitely give Sinnah's unconventional synthesizer a try. I've been using it since 2018 and it's absolutely amazing!
