NUSofting Releases Eugene Filter VST Plugin for Free: Get the Unique and Resonant Filter for Windows and Mac

  • by

For a limited period, you can purchase SubLab, a software by Future Audio Workshop, for only $10. Additionally, NUSofting has introduced a free VST plugin called Eugene Filter. This plugin is a free version of NUSofting's Eugene Filter, which usually costs €10. It can now be downloaded for free on both Windows and Mac operating systems.

The plugin is available in VST2 and VST3 formats for Windows operating systems (64-bit), and in VST3 and AU formats for Mac.

Eugene Filter is a plugin used for audio effects that introduces a unique low-pass filter. This filter is technically known as a cascaded integrator-comb ladder.

The filter possesses properties of self-oscillation that are comparable to the voltage-controlled filters found in virtual analog synthesizers, but it has a broader range of resonances.

The free version functions in a similar manner as the Eugene Filter, but it does not include all of the features available in the paid version.

NUSofting has a YouTube channel where they have uploaded a video highlighting the Eugene Filter and its free version. This video aims to illustrate the distinctions between the two releases.

According to the developer, the cascaded integrator-comb ladder filter created by NUSofting possesses a distinctive quality. It is described as being light and resonant, resembling the sound of a human voice.

Producers have the ability to input any desired sound and combine it with the noise produced by the plugin, which can be controlled in terms of volume. By also incorporating a touch of chorus within the plugin, producers can create unique and distinct sounds from any audio source.

In addition, the cascaded integrator-comb filter has the option to be substituted (using a switch) with a traditional analog low-pass filter emulation that has a slope of 24dB/octave. This provides two different low-pass filter choices.

The Eugene Filter Free version offers two low-pass filters that enhance the resonance, a noise generator, a stereo chorus effect, overall stereo functionality, and adjustable gain controls for the input, output, wet (processed) sound, and dry (unprocessed) sound.

NUSofting, a sole proprietorship, has simplified the process of downloading Eugene Filter Free by offering a one-click option to obtain the Zip file in your desired format.

The paid version of the software includes special features that are not available in the free version. These features include an Envelope Follower, Random Walk LFO with adjustable Rate and Depth settings, and a preset selector which allows users to choose from four different presets.

The Envelope Follower keeps tabs on the volume of the input, while the Random Walk LFO adjusts the frequency of the filter, allowing for a range of speeds from slow and steady sweeps to quick and unpredictable movements.

In addition to the features mentioned in the free version, the full version also offers the ability to resize the interface.

The complete edition offers a wider selection of formats, as the Mac version that requires payment is able to work with AU, VST2, and VST3.

Both the Mac and Windows versions of the plugins offer the same features and are compatible with VST2 and VST3 formats. They are also available in 64-bit for both operating systems.

When I first downloaded Nusofting's other free plugins, I didn't bother with this one because I already have enough filters. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it actually sounds. The graphical user interface may not be visually appealing, but I believe it's still worth downloading.

Dear Sir/M

Who said that there is no pleasure in Eugene?

Well yeah, actually.

Hey everyone, you should check out the Sinnah unconventional synthesizer. I've been familiar with it since 2018 and it's incredibly impressive!
