Get NUSofting’s Glitch Pad Synth for Free in Limited-Time Beta Release

  • by

For a limited time, you can purchase SubLab by Future Audio Workshop for only $10. NUSofting has recently launched a free beta version of their Glitch Pad synthesizer plugin for Windows. This experimental synthesizer will be available for free to the public until the end of March.

The public beta version of Glitch Pad can now be accessed in VST2 and VST3 formats, specifically designed for 64-bit Windows operating systems.

NUSofting usually offers full-release plugins that are compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems. Therefore, Mac users will likely have the opportunity to use the plugins once they are officially released at version 1.0.

The roots of the plugin can be traced back many years to the initial launch of the Glitch Pad SynC Modular patch in 2002.

The founder of NUSofting, Luigi, has recently reworked the initial algorithm and created a upgraded oscillator, leading to the development of a new VST synthesizer.

The latest edition of the software is programmed in C++ from the ground up and can be accessed in its early beta stage through the developer's website, as provided in the link below.

The beta version is completely operational and consists of 23 pre-set options.

Luigi has simplified the process of downloading the plugin by making it a one-click action. Users do not need to log in or provide any personal information to obtain the Zip file.

A video showcasing a unique and nostalgic sound of the Glitch Pad can be found on YouTube, although it is not an official demo.

The synthesizer would be perfectly suitable for genres like ambient music, experimental soundtracks, and video game music.

The preset names, such as echo dream, echo pendulum, foggy voices, slow choir, and washed choir, provide hints about the different styles available.

At first glance, the interface for Glitch Pad appears to have a lot of elements to absorb.

In terms of appearance and design, there is some potential for enhancement. However, considering it is a free beta version, one can only anticipate a certain level of quality.

Towards the lower part of the interface, you will find a keyboard and a preset selector. Positioned above them is a graphical representation of the waveform.

According to the plugin's interface, users can engage in the beta version for a duration of two months. The plugin is programmed to expire by the end of March 2024.

It is uncertain whether the Glitch Pad will be offered as a paid product or released as freeware after the beta phase. NUSofting has previously released both paid and free versions of their products, so the outcome is not yet determined.

NUSofting is currently offering discounts on some of their synthesizers. If you are enjoying their sound, it would be worth exploring their other product offerings.

It is unknown if the synth will continue to be available at no cost once the beta phase concludes.

Oh, you've already mentioned in the title that this plugin is exclusively for Windows. Thank you for clarifying, but unfortunately, it seems that some Apple users are still complaining about it in the comment section. It has become a recurring joke or meme among the BPB community.

Similar to the arrogance displayed by some Windows users, there seems to be a tendency among certain individuals, who are primarily Windows users, to act as if they are superior and unaffected by discussions about operating systems. This behavior is also observed in the comments section.

This is a quirky and interesting thing. It has some good ideas, like the way the pitch envelope functions. It would be even better if it had a Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO) for each destination, and maybe more shapes, including some unusual ones, to improve randomization. Since it's in beta, it's possible that these things are already being worked on, but if they're not, it would be great to see them added.

That's great! However, I have a complaint. I really miss Rewire! I believe that if Rewire was still available, these "intro DAWs" would be much more beneficial. They could easily complement our existing setups. I find it unbelievable that as technology advances, something as useful as Rewire is no longer available and has not been adequately replaced. Sure, there is Ableton Link or a Bluetooth plugin, but Rewire allowed for seamless sending and receiving of MIDI and audio directly from the DAW without any problems or delays, while keeping everything in sync.
