For a limited time, you can purchase SubLab by Future Audio Workshop for only $10. NUSofting has recently launched a beta version of their Glitch Pad Synth, which is available for free on Windows until the end of March.
The public beta version of Glitch Pad is currently accessible for 64-bit Windows in both VST2 and VST3 formats.
Typically, NUSofting releases their plugins for both Windows and Mac operating systems. Therefore, Mac users can likely participate in the activities when the 1.0 version is released.
The plugin can be traced back to the Glitch Pad SynC Modular patch, which was released in 2002, indicating that its origins date back several decades.
Luigi, the founder of NUSofting, has recently redesigned the initial algorithm and created a more advanced oscillator, giving rise to a brand new VST synthesizer.
The developer has created a new version of the software using C++ programming language. It is currently in the early beta stage and can be downloaded from the developer's website.
The beta version is completely operational and comes with a total of 23 pre-configured settings
Luigi has simplified the process of downloading the plugin by making it a simple one-click action. Users do not need to log in or provide any personal information to obtain the Zip file.
A video has been uploaded on YouTube, featuring an unofficial demo of the Glitch Pad. The video highlights the unique and nostalgic sound of the instrument.
The synthesizer would be a perfect fit for genres like ambient music, experimental soundtracks, and video game soundtracks.
The names of these presets give clues about the different styles they represent. Some examples include echo dream, echo pendulum, foggy voices, slow choir, and washed choir.
When you first look at the interface for Glitch Pad, there is a lot of information to absorb.
In terms of appearance and design, there is potential for enhancement. However, considering that it is a free beta version, one should not expect too much.
Towards the lower section of the interface, there is a keyboard and a preset selector available. Positioned above that, there is a visual depiction of the waveform.
According to the information on the plugin's interface, users will be given a two-month period to take part in the beta testing. The beta version is set to expire by the end of March 2024.
It is uncertain whether the Glitch Pad will be offered as a paid product or be released for free after the beta testing phase. This is because NUSofting has previously released both paid and free versions of their products.
NUSofting is currently offering discounts on some of their synthesizers. If you are enjoying the sounds from their products, it could be worth exploring their other available releases.
It is unclear whether the synth will continue to be available for free once the beta period concludes.

"Make sure to include in the title that this plugin is compatible with Windows" – oh, you've already done that. Thank you, but it's been noticed quite late. The comments section is now filled with Apple users complaining, and it has become a popular meme among BPB community.

Similar to the attitude of Windows users who look down on others, there seems to be a similar behavior among individuals who claim to be indifferent towards the topic of operating systems. However, these individuals are usually only Windows users and can be found expressing their opinions in the comments section.

This small thing is quite amusing. It has some interesting concepts, such as the functioning of the pitch envelope. It would greatly improve if it had a low-frequency oscillator (LFO) for each destination and a wider range of shapes, including some unconventional ones, to enhance the randomness. Considering that it is still in beta, it is possible that these suggestions are already being addressed, but just in case they aren't… 😀

That's great! Although, I have a complaint. I really miss the functionality of rewire. I believe that if rewire was still available, these "intro DAWs" would be much more beneficial as they could easily work alongside our existing setups. It's astonishing to me that as technology advances, something as useful as rewire no longer exists and has not been adequately replaced. While there are alternatives like Ableton Link or a blutcat plugin, rewire allowed for seamless transmission and reception of MIDI and audio directly from the DAW without any issues or latency, while keeping everything in sync.
