You can now purchase Future Audio Workshop's SubLab for just $10, but this offer is only available for a limited time. As for NUSofting, they have recently released a beta version of their Glitch Pad Synth for Windows, and it's completely free for users to try until the end of March.
The public beta version of Glitch Pad is currently accessible for 64-bit Windows users in both VST2 and VST3 formats.
NUSofting usually releases their plugins for both Windows and Mac operating systems, which means that Mac users will likely have the opportunity to enjoy the features of their plugins when version 1.0 is released.
The roots of the plugin can be traced back to a modular patch called Glitch Pad SynC, which was released in 2002.
Luigi, the founder of NUSofting, has recently reworked the initial algorithm and developed an enhanced oscillator, which has led to the creation of a brand-new VST synthesizer.
The developer has created a new version of the software using C++ programming language. This updated version is currently in its early beta stage and can be downloaded from the developer's website, which you can find the link to below.
The beta version is completely operational and consists of 23 pre-set options.
Luigi has simplified the process of downloading the plugin, making it effortless with just a single click. There is no need to log in or provide any personal information in order to obtain the Zip file.
A video on YouTube has been uploaded featuring an unofficial demo of the Glitch Pad, which displays a unique sound with hints of retro influence.
The synthesizer would be a perfect fit for genres like ambient music, experimental soundtracks, and video game music.
The preset names give a clue about the different styles that are represented, such as echo dream, echo pendulum, foggy voices, slow choir, and washed choir.
At first glance, the interface for Glitch Pad appears to be quite overwhelming with a lot of information to absorb.
In terms of appearance and design, there is definitely some potential for improvement. However, considering that it is a free beta version, it is understandable that there are limitations to what can be expected.
Towards the lower part of the interface, you will find a keyboard and a selector for pre-set options. Positioned above that, there is a graphical depiction of the waveform.
According to the plugin's interface, users are given a two-month period to take part in the beta testing. The beta testing phase will come to an end in March 2024.
It is uncertain whether the Glitch Pad will be released as a paid product or as freeware after the beta testing phase, as NUSofting has offered both paid and free releases in previous instances.
NUSofting is currently offering discounts on some of their synthesizers. If you enjoy the sound of their products, it would be worth exploring their other available options.
It is unclear whether the synth will continue to be available for free once the beta period is over.

"You should mention in the title that this plugin is exclusively for Windows"… oh, you've already done that. Thank you, but unfortunately, it's too late. People expressing dissatisfaction about Apple compatibility in the comments has now become a well-known joke within the BPB community.

Similar to the arrogance displayed by Windows users, there is a tendency for some people to act superior when it comes to discussing operating systems. It is important to acknowledge that this behavior is not exclusive to Mac users, as there are also Windows users who exhibit the same attitude, as evident from the comments.

This is an amusing little thing. It has some interesting ideas, such as the way the pitch envelope works. It would greatly improve if there was a low frequency oscillator (LFO) for each of the destinations, and maybe more shapes, including some unconventional ones for better randomization. Since it's a beta version, it's possible that these improvements are already being worked on, but just in case they're not… 😀

I agree, it's a shame that Rewire is no longer available. If it was still around, it would greatly enhance the usefulness of these "intro DAWs" as they could seamlessly work with our existing setups. It's surprising that such a useful tool hasn't been adequately replaced yet, even with advancements in technology. While there are alternatives like Ableton Link or a Bluetooth plugin, Rewire allowed for direct and synchronized transfer of MIDI and audio between DAWs without any problems or delays.

You will still receive the upcoming edition of Beat magazine.
