Get the Glitch Pad Synth for Free in NUSofting’s Limited-Time Beta Release

  • by

For a limited time, you can purchase SubLab, a software by Future Audio Workshop, for only $10. NUSofting has recently launched a beta version of their Glitch Pad Synth for Windows, which is available to the public for free until the end of March.

The public beta version of Glitch Pad is currently accessible for 64-bit Windows in both VST2 and VST3 formats.

Typically, when NUSofting releases a new plugin, they make it available for both Windows and Mac users. Therefore, Mac users can expect to have access to the plugin when it is released at version 1.0.

The history of the plugin can be traced back to the year 2002 when the Glitch Pad SynC Modular patch was first introduced.

Luigi, the founder of NUSofting, has recently revised the initial algorithm and developed an enhanced oscillator, leading to the creation of a brand-new VST synthesizer.

The latest release has been developed using C++ programming language and can be accessed in its initial beta version from the developer's website, which is provided as a link below.

The beta version is completely operational and consists of 23 pre-set options.

Luigi has simplified the process of downloading the plugin by making it a simple one-click procedure. Users do not need to provide any login credentials or personal information in order to obtain the Zip file.

A unique sound with a hint of nostalgia is demonstrated in an unofficial demo of the Glitch Pad on YouTube.

The synthesizer would be perfectly suited for genres like ambient music, experimental soundtracks, and video game scores.

The preset names give a clue about the different styles, such as echo dream, echo pendulum, foggy voices, slow choir, and washed choir.

When you first look at the interface for Glitch Pad, there is a lot of information that you need to absorb.

In terms of appearance and organization, there is still some potential for enhancement. However, considering that it is a free beta version, it is important to keep realistic expectations.

Towards the lower part of the interface, there is a keyboard and a preset selector. Above that, there is a visual depiction of the waveform.

According to the plugin's interface, users will be able to take part in the beta for a period of two months, until March 2024 when it is set to expire.

It is uncertain whether the Glitch Pad will be offered as a paid product or released for free after the beta version, as NUSofting has previously released both paid and free versions.

NUSofting is currently offering discounts on some of their synthesizers. If you enjoy the sound, it would be worth exploring their other products.

It is currently unknown if the synth will continue to be available for free once the beta period is over.

"Please mention in the title that this plugin can only be used on Windows"… oh, you've already done that. I appreciate it, but it's been mentioned too late. The comments section is now filled with Apple users complaining, and it has become a well-known meme for BPB at this stage.

Similar to the arrogance displayed by Windows users, there is a prevalent attitude among some individuals who claim to not be concerned with the operating system debate. However, it is important to note that these individuals are typically Windows users themselves, and their presence can be observed in the comments section.

This small thing is quite amusing. It has some interesting concepts, such as the functioning of the pitch envelope. It would greatly improve if there was a separate low frequency oscillator (LFO) for each destination, and maybe more varied shapes, including some eccentric ones, for better randomization. Since it's still in beta, it's possible that these features are already being worked on, but just in case they aren't… 😀

Glitch Pad has the ability to produce impressive and high-quality sounds. Luigi, the developer behind Nusofting, has not received enough recognition for their talents. Their work is truly remarkable!

That's great! But I have a complaint. I really miss the functionality of Rewire. I believe that if Rewire was still available, these beginner digital audio workstations (DAWs) would be much more valuable because they could easily work alongside our existing DAWs. It's ridiculous that as technology advances, we haven't found a proper replacement for something as useful as Rewire. Sure, there are alternatives like Ableton Link or a Bluetooth plugin, but Rewire allowed for seamless transmission and receipt of MIDI and audio directly within the DAW, without any issues or latency, while keeping everything in sync.
