Explore the New Glitch Pad Synth: NUSofting Releases Free Beta for Windows

  • by

For a limited time, you can purchase SubLab by Future Audio Workshop for only $10. NUSofting has recently released a beta version of their Glitch Pad Synth, which is available for free to the public on Windows until the end of March.

The public beta version of Glitch Pad is currently accessible in both VST2 and VST3 formats specifically designed for 64-bit Windows operating systems.

Most of NUSofting's plugins are usually released for both Windows and Mac operating systems, which means that Mac users will likely have the opportunity to use them when the 1.0 version is released.

The history of the plugin can be traced back to the year 2002 when the Glitch Pad SynC Modular patch was first introduced.

Luigi, the founder of NUSofting, has recently redesigned the initial algorithm and developed an enhanced oscillator, leading to the creation of a brand-new VST synthesizer.

The latest edition of the software has been developed using C++ as its primary coding language. It is currently in the early stages of beta testing and can be accessed through the developer's website, which is provided as a link below.

The beta version is completely operational and consists of a total of 23 pre-configured settings

Luigi has simplified the process of downloading the plugin by making it easily accessible with just one click. Users do not need to provide any personal information or create an account to obtain the Zip file.

A video on YouTube has been released featuring an unofficial demo of the Glitch Pad. The video highlights its unique sound which has a nostalgic touch.

The synthesizer would be a perfect fit for genres like ambient music, experimental soundtracks, and video game music.

The preset names give a hint about the different styles included, such as echo dream, echo pendulum, foggy voices, slow choir, and washed choir.

At first sight, the interface of Glitch Pad appears to be overwhelming with numerous elements to process.

In terms of appearance and design, there is some potential for enhancement. However, considering that it is a free beta version, one should not expect too much.

Towards the lower part of the user interface, there is a keyboard and a pre-set selector. Above that, there is a graphical representation of the waveform.

According to the plugin's interface, users will have a two-month timeframe to take part in the beta. The plugin will expire by the end of March 2024.

It is uncertain whether the Glitch Pad will be offered as a paid product or released for free after the beta version, as NUSofting has previously released both paid and free software.

NUSofting is currently offering discounts on some of their synthesizers. If you enjoy the sound of their products, it would be worth exploring their other available options.

It is unclear whether the synth will continue to be available for free once the beta period is over.

"You should mention in the title that this plugin is exclusively for Windows"… oh, you have already done that. I appreciate it, but it's a bit too late now. The complaints from Apple users in the comment section have become a well-known joke within the BPB community.

There is a similar level of snobbery among Windows users. Although I don't use a Mac myself, it's important to acknowledge that the majority of people who claim to be above discussing the topic of operating systems are actually Windows users. Their presence is just as evident in the comments.

This small object is quite amusing. It has some interesting concepts, such as the functionality of the pitch envelope. It would greatly improve if it had a low-frequency oscillator (LFO) for each of the destinations, as well as additional shapes, including some unconventional ones, to enhance the randomness. Although it is currently in beta, it is possible that these improvements are already being addressed. However, if they are not, it would be a delightful addition.

The Glitch Pad has the ability to produce impressive sounds! Luigi, the developer behind Nusofting, has consistently been undervalued. His work is truly remarkable!

That's great! However, I have a rant about missing the feature called "rewire". I believe that if rewire was still available, it would greatly enhance the usefulness of these "intro DAWs" as they could easily work alongside our existing setups. It's astonishing to me that as technology advances, such a useful feature has been discontinued without a proper replacement. While there are alternatives like Ableton Link or a Bluetooth plugin, rewire allowed for seamless sending and receiving of MIDI and audio directly from the DAW, without any issues or latency, while keeping everything in sync.
