Reba McEntire and Rex Linn, a well-known couple in country music, competed in a chili cookoff where Reba placed last. Despite their adorable relationship, they didn't go easy on each other during the contest.
McEntire recently took part in a Hillbilly Chili Cookoff, in which Linn was a judge. Despite their personal relationship, it did not influence the judging process in her favor.
Surprisingly, McEntire ended up in last place. As a result, she received a funny trophy as a prize: a chili pepper being flushed down a toilet.
Always one to take things in stride, McEntire posted a video on her social media accounts showing her unsuccessful attempt at a cooking competition, even showing a moment where she graciously accepted coming in last place.
The video below provides a detailed account of what happened, with some additional interesting details included. Country singer Terri Clark was also present at the event and managed to secure second place in the competition.
In a recent interview on CBS Mornings, Reba McEntire talked about her unsuccessful chili cookoff experience and shared that she has a good understanding of what went awry.
She forgot to add spices to the dish, but she added chili powder and hatch green chilis thinking it would be enough. She was following a Texas recipe and was very excited about it.
Despite being in a relationship with Linn, it didn't change the fact that she still ended up in last place. However, McEntire believes that her relationship status may have helped soften the blow when the judges announced the news.
"Rex, who was a judge, approached me and quietly told me the news. He expressed his apologies and when I asked who the winner was, he informed me that it was not me."
Then he gave me the award, which turned out to be a chili pepper in the shape of a toilet. And that's when I realized I had been pranked.
Putting humor aside, McEntire discussed her bond with Linn and the reasons behind its success. They have been acquainted for a long time, having first met in 1991 during the filming of The Gambler Returns alongside Kenny Rogers. However, their romantic relationship didn't develop until they reunited in 2020. Prior to that, McEntire was married to her husband Narvel Blackstock, with whom she has a son named Shelby.
During a conversation with Rex, McEntire wondered why they hadn't connected sooner. Rex pointed out that one reason could be because she was previously married. McEntire describes Rex as fun and energetic, while she has become more relaxed over time. She believes they have crossed paths at the perfect moment.
Following this, McEntire will be going to Las Vegas to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Additionally, she is working on a new comedy series that will bring her back together with some of the crew from her popular TV show, Reba.
